March 2024
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Walton Families,

I hope everyone has an enjoyable spring break and comes back well-rested for the last seven weeks of school before summer break.  As we get ready for AP exams and EOC testing, the time will go by fast and I want to encourage students to reach out to teachers for help during the last few remaining WEB sessions.

Walton has a rich legacy of achievement, largely owing to the exceptional support from our community. This time of year marks the initiation of efforts by our PTSA, Foundation, and booster clubs to enlist parent volunteers for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Whether you can contribute to a one-time event or serve as a board member, please consider answering the call for service. Engaging with the school not only fosters community bonds but also enables these organizations to focus on providing our students with opportunities that go beyond the school offerings.

In this newsletter, you will witness the ongoing successes of our students in academics, athletics, and extracurricular pursuits.

All the best,
Richard Tischler
Principal

We had 8 students create art for the Art Hatch event for the City of Kennesaw and it will be on display at the Smith-Gilbert Gardens in an outdoor installation during April and May!

WALTON AP ART HISTORY

Over February Break, AP Art History students traveled to Washington, D.C. to tour the art museums, architecture, and monuments. In a whirlwind four days, students viewed the collections of 7 museums, including the National Gallery of Art, and closely studied 8 monuments including the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial. It was a fantastic time of enrichment!

All six choirs from the Walton Chorus participated in the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation hosted at Walton on March 1, 2024. They each sang two selections and sightread for three judges. All the ensembles had superb performances and represented the school well.

The Walton Chorus had a successful concert tour to Chicago which included a clinic with the Director of Choral Activities at Northwestern University, a concert at Fourth Church, sightseeing, and fun!

The Walton Boys Golf team kicked off its season on February 24th at the Warrior Best Ball Tournament, placing as runner up. This was followed by another runner up position in the Lambert JV Invitational on March 4th. Walton had two teams competing at the Cobb County Boys Championship on March 11-12, placing 2nd and 7th among the 22 teams in the tournament.
