WALTON HIGH SCHOOL FOUNDATION |
| The Walton Foundation celebrates a banner year, marked by the tremendous fundraising success of the capital campaign. The annual auction raised $18,000, which pushed the campaign above its goal of $175,000. Gifts large and small propelled the campaign forward. We recognized several 'name a classroom" donors in this campaign, most recently with the Apricot Altar plaque outside of room 118. In addition to funding staffing needs of the school, these funds supported two spring efforts. Fresh plantings were made in the memorial gardens and the large beds lining the rear entrance. The rear entrance plantings mark the completion of the foundation's targeted effort to address major runoff issues, an effort that started in 2025 with the installation of a river rock dry bed. We hope the investment in greenery helps create a welcoming entrance for students and staff alike. The Foundation also initiated a dynamic photography project for the school hallways. This spring, seventeen framed images were installed in the main 2nd floor hallway. The student yearbook committee identified images that captured Walton spirit for this first installation. The Foundation plans to expand this project throughout the school. Images will update periodically throughout the year to create an evolving collage of the student body. |

SLC - The Table on Delk Walton SLC proudly hosted a Spring Fling event at Table on Delk, an organization serving women and children at risk for human trafficking. Walton SLC members planned, organized, and led the entire event, creating a fun-filled day with activities including basketball, soccer, temporary tattoos, bracelet making, bubbles, cornhole, cakewalk, and four square. Through student-led fundraising efforts, the group also provided lunch for attendees, including hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, fruits, and vegetables, and donated a grill along with playground equipment such as basketballs, soccer balls and nets, and playground balls. The event was a meaningful success, bringing joy to participants while giving students valuable opportunities to develop and practice leadership skills. |

All four bands performed extremely well at State Assessment (LGPE), the band had eight students earn placement into the GMEA All-State Band, and one student was selected as the top Tenor Saxophone in the GMEA All-State Jazz Band. The Walton Indoor Percussion Ensemble returned to competition for the first time in 20 years and won a State Championship in the Georgia Indoor Percussion Association’s Concert Percussion classification. The Walton Winter Guard continued their streak by winning the Southern Association for Performance Arts (SAPA) Championship in Chattanooga for a 5th year in a row. The Winter Guard also brought home the Winter Guard International (WGI) Championship at the Atlanta Super-Regional competition, taking first place from over 30 schools from 6 different states. All the concert bands, the percussion ensemble, and the jazz bands will perform at various events over April 27th and 28th, and everyone is invited to come out to the Taste of East Cobb Festival on Saturday, May 2nd, in the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. Featuring live music, games, and vendors from the best restaurants in East Cobb, the Taste of East Cobb has something for the whole family. |
WALTON BOYS VOLLEYBALL It’s been another competitive stretch for Walton Boys Volleyball as both our Varsity and JV teams continue to battle against strong competition heading into the end of the season. Both teams continue to rank among the top programs in the state and are playing their best volleyball at the right time as they prepare for postseason competition. The season will continue with a tournament appearance on April 25th at A5 in Roswell. |
WALTON DRAMA During Spring Break Walton Drama traveled to London to explore all the city’s theaters have to offer and to study with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Students were able to see diverse theater productions, from Disney’s Hercules to one of theaters’ longest running productions, Phantom of the Opera, to a classical British farcical comedy, The Play the Goes Wrong, to a modern dress interpretation of Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. In addition, students attended workshops with the RCS, visited world renowned museums, and explored all that the city of London had to offer. It was an educational, exceptional, and enjoyable experience for all! |
WALTON ROBOTICS The Walton Robotics team competed at the District Championship at Mercer University on April 8th – 11th. Our custom-made robot, Oasis, went 10-2 during qualification rounds but fell in the fourth round of the playoffs to the 2nd place alliance. Walton was awarded the District Engineering Inspiration award for “demonstrating outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team’s school and community”. WALTON WINTER GUARD The Walton Winter Guard officially closed out its 2026 season with back-to-back first-place finishes, earning top honors at both the WGI Buford Regional and the Southern Association for Performing Arts (SAPA) Championships. These victories highlight not only the team's talent but also its resilience, growth, and strong sense of unity. At the WGI Buford Regional, Walton stood out among 34 teams from across the Southeast in the Scholastic A division. After an impressive preliminary performance that earned them the top ranking with a score of 85.320, the team returned to the floor for finals and delivered an even stronger performance. Their final score of 91.270 secured the championship, marking a major milestone for this talented group of student performers. Just one week later, Walton competed at the 2026 SAPA Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Competing against 15 teams from Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee, the Winter Guard once again rose to the top, earning first place with a score of 90.945. That win marked a powerful and well-earned conclusion to their season. The team’s success is even more remarkable given its makeup. Nine of the 13 members are freshmen, making this one of the youngest groups in the competition. Despite their limited experience at the high school level, these students performed with confidence, precision, and artistry well beyond their years. |
